Since 2022, Flip Petillion was accepted to the roster of arbitrators of C-SAR, the sports arbitration division of CEPANI that started offering its administration services of arbitrations in the sports world.
He was appointed as:
- Co-arbitrator in the case of Virton against the Royal Belgian Football Association and Lommel, and
- Sole arbitrator in the case of Koninklijke Voetbalclub Oostende (KVO) against Royal Belgian Football Association.
Whereas in the first matter, Virton contested the license granted to Lommel, in the second matter, the claim related to the sanctions that were imposed on KVO for non-compliance of the fair-play rules in the football sport.
Our firm advised and represented sports legend Eddy Merckx and the famous bicycle brand in the protection of their name, brand and reputation.
Flip Petillion and Jan Janssen have represented an investor in international arbitration proceedings involving claims by SportAccord, an umbrella organisation for all international sports federations as well as organisers of multi-sports games and a sport-related international association.
